An award winning filmmaker, musical composer, writer, chef and prolific video artist, Sell's work has gone on to screen internationally at various film festivals, events, and live performances. Through his own production company, Sell has gone on to produce and direct numerous personal documentaries as well as various music videos, commercials, and experimental short films. Beginning his career when he was 18, Sell began shooting no-budget documentaries while traveling the country with his video camera. His documentary work, while always extremely personal, commonly focuses on Individuals working to overcome their personal struggles and celebrates the many idiosyncrasies that help make up American life. Never discouraged by lack of equipment or funding, Sell's gritty, lo-fi cinematic aesthetic has become recognizable as he continues to shoot most of his work on a single Hi8 video camera. He has frequently composed the scores to most of his film work as well. Sell continues to be an advocate for independent and no-budget film production and has written various articles on the subject which have been published in numerous independent cinema magazines including Filmmaker Magazine, Indiewire & Rogue Filmmaker. He coined the term 'Crash Cinema', which refers to the act of making a film with whatever equipment available at the artists' disposable.

By the age of 23, Sell had produced and directed numerous low budget documentaries including 'No Place Like Home', 'My Dying Day', 'Long Way Back To Paradise', 'White Clover', 'Under the Bridge', and most recently 'The Hole' alongside filmmaker Billy Feldman. The documentary went on to premiere at the 2010 Red Hook Film Festival where it was awarded 'Best Documentary'. During pre-production on 'The Hole', Sell raised money for the film by appearing as an extra in various episodes of the HBO series 'Treme' which was shot in New Orleans. The Documentary screened apart of Rooftop Films 2011 Summer Screening Series presented by IFC in August and was acquired by HDnet soon afterwards. His other recent documentary work includes the short 'An Afternoon with Walt', a portrait of poet Walt Curtis, Author of 'Mala Noche', as well as 'Baby, You Have No Idea', a tour diary of 'The Singing Knives' during their 2010 west coast tour. Recently, Sell has teamed up with legendary lower east side based artists Rev Jen and Faceboy, to produce a series of video projects including 'The Bitches of Bowery', 'Elf Workout', 'Killer Unicorn' and 'The Sinful Bitches' under their newly formed production company ASS Studios. A Box set of these short films will be released worldwide on DVD through MVD Entertainment on May 22nd.
